It seems as though every day there are more stories highlighting the need for affordable dental care in America. For instance, a recent article from ABC News points out that an estimated 108 million U.S. residents do not have dental insurance, which has lead to people doing dangerous things like ignoring dental pain or going to unauthorized dentists.
The news source told the story of one woman who took her 14-year-old daughter to a "backyard" dentist who left the girl permanently disfigured. Furthermore, waiting until dental pain is out of control before seeing a dentist could come with consequences.
"A preventative check-up might cost a hundred dollars but once you find yourself in an emergency situation, it gets a lot more expensive than that - and you may put your health at risk," dentist Nancy Greenwalt told the news source.
There's no need to go to uncertified dentists to get affordable care when discount dental plans can help connect people to certified dental health professionals for affordable prices. According to Forbes Magazine, discount dental plans may actually be better options than purchasing individual dental insurance, which offer little benefits over these plans but cost much more.
