Some people may think they are doing all they can to promote good oral health, while they are actually missing the mark on proper dental care. Dentist James Wells has created a dental health quiz for individuals to use to test themselves to make sure they understand the basics of oral care.
"Understanding how to take care of your gums, teeth and mouth are key to overall health. I’m challenging patients to take the test," said Wells.
First, the quiz asked people how often they should replace their toothbrush. According to Wells, the correct answer is as often as they can afford to, and at the very least every three months. The dentist said that replacing a toothbrush on a regular basis can prevent a build-up of dangerous bacteria.
Next, the quiz asked individuals how regularly they believe they should visit the dentist. Wells said that ideally, everyone should see their dental heath professional every six months.
It's important for people to take the time to educate themselves on proper oral health techniques.
