Dentists agree than children need help brushing properly  

Recently, an online survey set out to determine what dentists agree is the best way to assist children in keeping their gums and teeth healthy. Dentistry IQ reported on the findings, which appeared to show that dental health professionals feel as though a lot more work needs to be done when it comes to educating children about oral health.

Nearly 90 percent of dentists surveyed said that their pediatric patients do not brush their teeth for the right amount of time, and 75 percent said that their patients do not brush properly.

"When asked, 100 percent of the dentists surveyed agreed that the dental habits that children learn at a young age impact their overall dental health as they get older. The results also confirmed that to motivate children to brush their teeth we need to make brushing fun, and the process should be supported with a quality toothbrush," according to the news source.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states that parents should make sure that their child has a healthy diet, with lots of fruits and vegetables, understands the importance of brushing twice a day and visits the dentist at least twice a year.
