News sources recommend discount dental plans

Getting dental care can be difficult for people who do not have access to oral health insurance. The American Dental Association states that it's a "disgrace" that there are so many U.S. residents who are unable to get even the most basic dental care, and that it leads to kids and adults missing school, work and even sleep due to untreated conditions.

Recently, The Unionville Times reported on the different ways people can gain access to dental care. Among the suggestions they gave were discount dental plans, where individuals pay a pre-set fee and are given a list of dentists in their area who have agreed to provide treatment for the cost of that fee.

"Don’t skip preventive dentistry when you are without insurance. These visits are relatively inexpensive and can save thousands. Work with your dentist to find a way for preventive care that fits your budget," recommended the news source.

A 2009 article in Forbes Magazine also suggested discount dental plans as a viable alternative to oral health insurance.
