Teeth grinding causes more issues than pain

Bruxism or "teeth grinding" is a common problem for millions of stressed-out people worldwide. While many individuals believe that the worst thing this disorder causes is pain in the jaw, they are mistaken.

Recently, British model Katie Price talked about the toll that this condition has taken on her life in an effort to increase awareness and spreading the importance of talking to a dental health professional about this problem. Price said that she has had to see the dentist multiple times to fix cracked veneers caused by grinding her teeth at night.

"Bruxism can cause Temporo-Mandibular Joint disorder, resulting in clicking, grinding or pain in your jaw joints, ringing or buzzing in your ears and difficulty in opening or closing your mouth," said Nigel Carter, D.D.S., quoted by HealthCanal.com.

The economy is causing many people to not seek dental care for problems like teeth griding, but, as Carter points out, it can lead to many other conditions. There are many affordable dental plans that can help people afford regular visits to care providers.
