Nonprofit dental organization visits schools in Massachusetts In Peabody, Massachusetts, students attending any of the town's elementary schools as well as Higgins Middle School will have two opportunities during the year to easily receive dental health care. These services will be provided by Polished LLC, a non-profit dental organization based in Cape Cod, according to the Salem News.

The news source reports that tentative plans have the organization's oral health professionals set to visit the school locations sometime in the middle of September. Ellen Gould, founder of Polished LLC, estimates that approximately 700 students - about 30 percent of those attending Peabody-area elementary or middle schools - will take advantage of the offered dental care.

Students will be available to receive a wide variety of dental hygiene and health services, including check-ups, cleanings, sealants, varnish and temporary fillings, among others.

At the Peabody School Committee meeting where the program was approved, Mayor Michael Bonfanti expressed appreciation for the available care.

"People are having a hard time affording to put food on the table, never mind dental care," Bonfanti told the news source. "This is a great opportunity to give dental care to some of those kids."

According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, dental sealants are a reliable method of helping to prevent tooth decay, particularly when applied to the teeth of children.
