Counties increase access to oral care for those in need Due to a lack of healthcare coverage, there may be some parents whose children are in need of receiving dental treatments. In fact, some communities across the county are launching initiatives in the hopes that they will improve the access to oral care.

The Scramento Bee reports that in El Dorado County, California, a mobile dental clinic will now service children in the area whose families cannot afford dental care.

According to the news source, as many as 2,000 children in the area who are under the age of 5 have never been to the dentist. For this reason, Kristen Rogers, the county's administrator for children's health, told the newspaper that at the start of the mobile clinic's service, there will most likely be "some kids with significant dental problems."

The van that will travel to nine schools throughout the county to service children.

It could be very important for young kids to receive proper oral care as tooth decay is the most common chronic disease among children in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Parents who lack coverage can find affordable ways for their kids to receive dental care through discount dental plans.
