Clinics receive money for new dental equipment

Clinics receive money for new dental equipment According to the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, it is very important that individuals undergo regular dental exams and mouth X-rays because the procedures can detect problems much earlier. The need for better oral care could be increasing as some clinics are being awarded funding to use toward better dental equipment.

For example, the Suburban Journals reports that the SSM St. Joseph Senior Dental Health Clinic will receive a $10,000 grant from the Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board. The funds will go toward the purchase of a new digital X-ray machine.

The clinic - which aims at providing services for low-income senior citizens - consists of 10 volunteer dentists as well as a hygienist and assistant. Norm Freiberger, one of the volunteers, said that the new equipment "will allow our staff to safely treat out senior patients in their chairs compared to having them stand up," which can sometimes be difficult for these individuals.

The volunteers also hope they can treat more patients, as examination time will not take as long.

Receiving regular exams or X-rays could be important for an individual's oral health. Those who are seeking affordable ervices can find low-cost care for themselves and their families through discount dental plans
