Patients can design their own smile with cosmetic dentistry
Updated: 9/23/2010 3:00:10 PM

Patients can design their own smile with cosmetic dentistry Individuals living in the U.S. consider a person's smile to be one of the most important physical characteristics, according to the American Dental Association. Dentists are finding ways to allow patients to use cosmetic dentistry to improve this attribute.

Often times when individuals have procedures done, such as veneers, an outside lab creates the cosmetic work. Gateway Dental Arts (GDA) is one practice that has a new process which includes having a ceramist within its dental facility.

The new care allows patients to be involved in every step toward getting their new smile. The ceramist is located right next to the individuals as they undergo fittings, so that if there is a problem, the dentists are there to fix it. Richard Austin, dentist at GDA, says that "since the ceramist can see the patient's teeth in person, he can more easily craft veneers to match and fit existing teeth perfectly."

Individuals who would like to improve their smile can find low-cost affordable ways to under these procedures, like veneers, through discount dental plans.
