Colgate's hosts annual dental care campaign in Louisiana

Colgate In an effort to inform children about the importance of proper dental care, Colgate-Palmolive Company has partnered with the New Orleans Saints and Louisiana-based Boys and Girls Club for its annual Bright Smiles, Bright Futures campaign.

More than 600 children who reside in Louisiana and Mississippi will be eligible to receive free dental treatments and be referred to area dentists for future services. Event volunteers will also teach patients about how to maintain oral hygiene on a daily basis.

In addition to music and the attendance of celebrities, children will get the chance to practice dental care along side some of New Orleans' best NFL players.

"With the challenges surrounding access to health care, the oral health awareness and outreach that we perform with community partners like the Boys & Girls Clubs and our volunteer dentists is more important than ever," said Marsha Butler, vice president of Colgate. "Taking care of our teeth and gums and helping to prevent oral health disease is something children can control if they learn how and develop healthy habits."

While people with little or no dental insurance coverage can benefit from attending these types of free events, finding a discount dental plan can give them access to a dentist and oral hygiene treatments on a regular basis.
