Dentists volunteer to save teeth in San Diego San Diego residents who suffer from tooth decay or infection, but lack dental insurance to pay for a surgery, may not have to suffer any more, as the American Association of Endodontists will hold a free clinic on April 17.

The group will offer uninsured and underinsured individuals access to root canals and other procedures, which the group says helps patients keep their natural teeth – an important factor in overall health.

Dr Kevin Keeting, one of the endodontists participating in the event, said that making people without dental insurance aware of the importance of this advantage is one of the key benefits of the effort.

"This is a great opportunity not just to provide charitable care, which is so sorely needed, but also to educate patients about oral health and the importance of maintaining their natural teeth," he said.

The group estimates that over 15 million root canals are performed annually on patients with infection and tooth decay which would otherwise teeth to be removed.
