A new mint aims to promote, rather than hurt dental health.

According to Orlando's Fox news channel affiliate, a new product called EvoraPlus aims to deliver teeth-friendly services in the form of a mint candy.

Reportedly, EvoraPlus promotes whiter teeth and good bacteria in the mouth and its website states that this super mint may also help prevent against cavities.

The probiotic mints introduce beneficial bacteria that helps cut down on lactic acid from carbohydrates and sugars that in turn discourage cavity-causing bacteria from feeding on these substances on the tooth surfaces.

EvoraPlus was developed by a dentist, Dr Jeffery Hillman who worked at the Boston-based Forsyth Dental Center at the start of his career. This product is the result of his research into cavity prevention and bacteria control in the mouth.

However, the key to optimal dental health is to visit the dentist on a regular basis for checkups and to brush and floss twice each day, the ADA says. Such tooth care can help prevent against halitosis or bad breath that can occur when small particles of food are caught in between teeth.
