Learn about dental care at a health fair

One way to get kids excited about a trip to the dentist for teeth cleaning is to teach them about dental hygiene at a health fair.

During the summer, there are many street fairs, farm shows and traveling amusement parks to which kids always want to go. However, sticky treats, ice cream and corn on the cob can get stuck in teeth meaning that its more important than ever to reinforce good dental health practices.

The Wayne County Health and Safety Fun Fest aims to teach kids about keeping teeth and gums clean, along with providing other essential advice for healthy bodies, according to weekly news provider, The View.

According to director and health officer, Loretta Davis, the event hopes "to provide information that educates residents about the importance of healthy living so they can take key proactive, preventive steps in their health care and lifestyle to prevent disease."

Free dental screenings might just encourage kids' excitement about going to the dentist as there are many diseases which can affect oral health.

For example, the web site kidshealth.org explains that even kids and teens can suffer from periodontal disease that comes from poor flossing and brushing routines.
