Dental insurance costs rise for Idaho part-timers

In November, part-time workers in Idaho will experience a dramatic increase in health and dental insurance costs.

The Idaho Statesman reports the example of a single mother with two children who currently pays $100 a month for her medical and dental care, and will start to pay $400 a month when the state moves insurance plan pricing up, even thought she will continue to work part-time hours.

According to the news provider, these changes to health and dental insurance plans will be a problem for almost 10 percent of Idaho's public work force.

Donna Yule, who is a spokesperson for the Idaho Public Employees Association, explained that part-time workers with lower incomes will struggle to afford health and dental care.

"It's going to take their whole paycheck to pay their insurance, if they have a family," she told the news provider.

Meanwhile, the American Dental Association suggests that children visit their dentist at least twice a year to make sure there are no problems with jaw or tooth development.

Everyone can benefit from vigilant dental hygiene, including regular checkups, but flossing and brushing are key for good daily dental health.
