I memorize my shopping list every day for over 25 years. I can read a 300 page book and tell you what happens on every page, forwards or backwards, and, give you the page number! We all have a photographic memory, you just have to learn how to click the shudder to make the imprint. It's easy, and a lot of fun!It all started one day over 25 years ago when a good friend of mine asked me a simple question and I couldn't come up with an answer. "Mike, you're getting senile!"...was his response. I decided to turn the tables on him, and get some revenge:) There was a book I had heard about, "The Memory Book" by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas. They said that it was simple to have a memory like a "genius." I bought it, studied it, and much to my surprise was memorizing all of my friends, relatives, and business associates phone numbers within just a day or so. Wow! That's how I felt. It was easy...and, a lot of fun. I went further, remembering long lists of groceries, a deck of cards in order, both forward and reverse. But I saved the best for last...I studied their "Link" and "Association" systems in order, to remember a three-hundred page novel, what was on each page, backward and forward. Give me a page number, I could tell you exactly what took place on that page!
Here in Manhattan we have thousands of cars passing us by every day, on every avenue. I still have the habit at looking at the plates, and converting the numbers to visuals. 5232 for example means Lion/Moon... so I see a Lion roaring at the moon...in a second. Ok, ok, that may sound like a crazy pastime, but there is a theory that using the greatest computer you have will stave off Alzheimer's.
Stop for a moment...think of what this book could do for your child, niece, nephew, or any child. They will love going to school, their confidence will soar, and they will get a great education, all the while having fun learning!
I just bought another copy of the book at Barnes and Noble in paperback. It cost me (in New York) $7.95. Here is a gift that goes on and on. You'll be "remembered" for a long time for a very thoughtful gift.
Now, what about you? In how many ways could you put this to use? Remembering names of people you just meet at social gatherings, phone numbers, shopping lists (Hey Mom, you forgot the shopping list) and on and on. They say we only use 10% of our brains. You can increase that usage greatly by using that fabulous computer you carry around on your shoulders.
Buy it and try it. And wait until you see the look on your friends face. More importantly...become the genius you truly are!
There is a wonderful Guru (Spiritual Teacher), Paramahansa Yoganda who said, "A major reason for failure is mental laziness." So, there you go.
