ADA releases dental care resource for professionals

The American Dental Association has launched a new online resource that will give dentists and dental professionals access to dental health information to improve clinical decision making.

The site will be dedicated to evidenced-based dentistry (EBD), an approach to dental care that requires the integration of clinically relevant scientific evidence relating to a patient's history and a dentist's expertise, according to the ADA.

The new website will provide a database of the relevant scientific information and guidance on how to implement certain techniques to improve dental care. There will also be a section for dentists to alert the ADA about patient questions that arise from dental care.

"We will continue to gather feedback to make sure the website provides the most clinically relevant and current information in a concise and user-friendly manner for dental and health care professionals," said John S. Findley, ADA president.

A large group of "world-renowned EBD experts" will oversee the website to ensure the information is accurate, said the ADA. The website was made possible thanks to a grant from the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research.
