Some dentists employing innovative technology for dental care

A Louisiana dentist has incorporated a computer in his dental care procedures that allows patients to witness their crowns being made thanks to 3-D photography.

Though the equipment for the service is expensive, Dr Ryan Perry said it was worth it because of the benefit it gives the patient and doctor, states BusinessReport.com.

After a scanned image of a tooth is turned into a 3-D image by one machine, another is told how to carve a crown out of a porcelain for the patient, according to the article. Soon, the doctor is placing the newly-made crown into the patient's mouth.

"When people get a crown done like this, they're blown away by the technology. They're so impressed with being able to watch their crown being made. It's a positive experience," Perry told the news provider.

Perry also uses digital x-rays, which allows for his patients to see their teeth in more detail, as well as easing their anxiety about any dental care procedures that must be done.

"When a patient can see what you're talking about, they'll trust you more. It's no longer an issue of them taking your word for it," said Perry.
