(ARA) - In the current education environment, there's no shortage of options for earning your degree online. However, with the growing number of universities offering distance learning programs, how do you know which one is right for you? Here are some of the key factors to consider:
* Credibility It's crucial for you to find a university that's accredited for providing quality education that employers look for.
* Ethics Find an education that fits your values. It's becoming very common for businesses and organizations to seek people who are ethically sound.
* Affordability Avoid diploma mills that are only in the education business to make a profit. This is about you getting ahead, not making them more profitable.
* Flexibility-make sure the distance learning program you're looking for fits into your life. You most likely have work and family commitments, and your education should be able to let you keep them.
It's also a good idea to look at some of the universities that many other busy professionals are choosing to earn degrees to advance their careers. One example of a complete online education is Liberty University.
As the world's largest evangelical university located in Lynchburg, Va., Liberty has experienced phenomenal growth in the last few years. Of the 40,000 students enrolled, more than 27,000 do so online from around the world.
So, what makes Liberty the choice of so many people? According to Ronald Kennedy, executive director of Liberty University Distance Learning and Graduate Studies, it's because people are looking for an education that fits their values and budget, and one that has a respected reputation.
"We are committed to providing our students with core values and the highest quality education in a distinctly Christian environment," Kennedy says. "This is one of the reasons we have online students from all 50 states and more than 70 countries around the world."
