Hybridge provides senior with lasting dental solution
Updated: 2/18/2008 3:50:30 PM

A senior's dental problems have been solved by dental implants, it has been reported.

Kurt Hertel turned to the Hybridge, a cross between a denture and a bridge developed by specialists at the Elmwood Dental Group in Rochester.

The Hybridge can be implanted in just three weeks, is made of resin and can be removed for both cleaning and repair.

"I'm happier now because I can smile," Mr Hertel told News 10 Now.

Mr Hertel had a history of dental problems going back to childhood, and these weren't resolved despite decades of work and a bill which ran into tens of thousands of dollars.

However, Dr Frank Lamar is confident that Mr Hertel has at last found a lasting solution.

"We always say our success rate is greater than 99 percent in ten years," he told the same publication.

"The likelihood that patient has to do dentistry again is very small."

Although the Hybridge costs around $15,000 for an entire plate of teeth, Mr Hertel says it is money well spent.

"They're sturdy and secure and pretty and I am very pleased," he said.
