Is the worst of the economic recession over? If one were to look only at Tooth Fairy dividends, it just might be. Delta Dental of Minnesota, a non-profit dental health services organization, recently came out with their annual Tooth Fairy Poll and found that the average U.S. child received $2.13 per tooth this year, up from $1.88 just 12 months ago.
Researchers have found that over the last 10 years, the Tooth Fairy Index has closely mirrored the trends of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, WebMD reports.
"This year's Tooth Fairy Poll average reflects improvements we're seeing in other areas of the economy," says Ann Johnson, director of community affairs for Delta Dental of Minnesota.
"For example, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 23 percent during the same time period - the Tooth Fairy may be another indicator that the economy is starting to recover," she added.
The poll also found that nearly 85 percent of those surveyed still get visits from the Tooth Fairy each year.
Families who are searching for ways to save money on dental care may want to consider discount dental plans.
