Dentists embrace new marketing tactics to attract patients

Dentists embrace new marketing tactics to attract patients Even some dentists have found social networking tools to be handy as they try to invite more patients use their services.

For example, the Wall Street Journal reveals that one dentist has opened a Twitter account to try to increase his client base in the current economy. People just aren't paying as much attention to professional dental care, as some work more hours or face budget cuts due to layoffs.

Dr David Wong told the news provider that his business has declined by 10 percent since January 2009.

"You can't go to the office and just be a dentist anymore; you have to go to the office and be a dentist and a CEO," he explained, adding he has been taking out newspaper ad space and paying for radio commercials.

The American Dental Association wants people to at least make time for regular checkups which are more than essential for good dental health.

It might be a good idea to be examined by a dentist before going away on that last summer vacation, especially to a foreign country or remote location, the ADA says.
