The American Dental Association recommends that parents teach their children how to maintain good dental health by brushing their teeth twice per day and flossing. There are even interactive characters on the ADA website that aim to make dental care fun for kids.
However, some kids might still feel worried about visits to the dentist, as outlined in The Daily Citizen. Dr David Strange takes a slightly different approach to dental care in order to make kids feel comfortable and secure visiting the dentist.
"[W]e also want to be more than just a dental appointment," he explained to the news provider, "Were really trying to influence [kids] over a period of time to continue to recognize the importance of oral health care."
In order to create a more kid-friendly environment, Dr Strange's office is painted in bright colors and a play area.
Other ways kids can get excited about dentist visits is to look at the ADA's online cartoon series with Dudley the dinosaur. The cartoon teaches children basic dental care, but also offers quizzes and information on healthy, non-sugary snacks.
