Fix dental problems now, or face steep costs later

As Americans struggle to gain access to affordable dental care, more children are experiencing problems with their dental health. Tooth decay affects more than one-fourth of U.S. children between the ages of 2 and 5 and half of those between 12 and 15 years old, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is one of the reasons why discount dental plans that help people find affordable dentists are so important.
Recently, WGEM, an NBC affiliate based in Illinois, spoke to local dentist KJ Sturhahn, who said that it's important for children and adults alike to visit the dentist regularly. If not, they could find themselves paying a great deal of money for problems that could have been dealt with for a lot less money early on.
"It can vary greatly - it can go from a bare minimum of probably $140 a tooth up to, if it's a grown up tooth and it decays into the nerve and it needs a root canal, you can be talking several thousand dollars to fix a tooth," Sturhahn told WGEM.
Many people cite cost as a major reason why they skip regular dental visits. These individuals should look into discount dental plans to help them get the care they need at an affordable price.
