There seem to be new studies every day that highlight the importance of maintaining proper dental health. For example, research has connected gum disease to an increased risk of diabetes and even potentially breast cancer. Luckily, oral health can be achieved by visiting the dentist regularly and brushing, flossing and using mouthwash.
Recently, the makers of Listerine and actress Kristin Chenoweth joined the Your Mouth Has Something To Say movement, which encourages people to re-evaluate how well they take care of their teeth and gums.
"Having a healthy mouth has always been important to me, but until I worked on this campaign I didn't realize that brushing your teeth alone misses the germs in 75 percent of your mouth," said Chenoweth. "That's like taking a shower, but only washing one arm!"
The Mayo Clinic reports that the mouth is teeming with bacteria and daily brushing and flossing is the key to keeping these substances under control. If left unchecked this bacteria can grow out of control and cause oral infections.
