Without insurance, people may do drastic things for dental care
Updated: 12/3/2012 5:58:09 AM

Without insurance, people may do drastic things for dental care When people lack dental insurance, they may do some crazy things to get their teeth taken care of. For example, The Range, an Arizona news source, recently reported on how one man traveled to Mexico to receive dental care.

According to the news source, Joshua Ellis did not have dental insurance and needed to get his impacted wisdom teeth removed before they seriously damaged his jaw. While Ellis did not want to give too many details about how this worked out for him, since it is all detailed in his new book, "An American Vampire in Juarez," he hinted that it ended with a mouthful of blood and some serious pain.

Ellis' account highlights the need for affordable dental care options in the U.S.

More than 100 million Americans don't have dental insurance, according to a report conducted earlier in 2012 by FRONTLINE. These individuals should look into discount dental plans to help them get the care they need rather than do anything drastic, such as traveling to a foreign country to get their dental work done.
