People who don't have dental insurance may put off taking care of dental issues because they are concerned about cost. However, the longer an oral problem is left to fester, the worse it will get, and the more expensive the treatment to cure it will be. This is why people without insurance should get discount dental plans to help them get the dental care they need at an affordable cost.
Recently, Dental Health Magazine published an article explaining the cost of a tooth extraction without dental insurance. According to the news source, the cost of extracting an impacted tooth can be $300 or more without dental insurance. Even a simple removal is likely to cost at least $200 without insurance.
Wisdom teeth, in particular, need to be extracted. If they are allowed to erupt, then they will crowd the rest of the teeth and change the look of a person's smile, as well as cause pain.
The New York Times states that without insurance, even a simple cleaning can cost as much as $400, if the dentist discovers an issue.
