Individuals who have allergies are used to telling waiters at restaurants and people who work at their local deli counter about the ingredients they can and cannot eat. However, there is another group of people who these individuals need to let their allergies known to - dental health professionals. According to a recent article in Dental Health Magazine, there are many tools and substances in a dental office that may pose a threat to people with allergies.
For example, the news source stated that many tooth polishing agents use gluten, so people who are intolerant of this protein composite should be sure to let their dentist know. Also, some dentists still use latex gloves, which is why it's important for people to inform their dental health professional if they have an allergic reaction to this substance.
The Colonial Dental Group recommends that people provide their dentist with a list of all of the substances they are allergic to on their first visit, so that they and their dental health professionals can work together to come up with a treatment plan that works for them.
