Foundation donates $240,000 toward dental care to Montana kids

Foundation donates $240K for dental care Some Montana kids got an extra incentive to smile on New Year's Eve.

The Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation announced a $240,000 grant on the last day of 2010 that will go toward improving the dental health of children in Montana.

Through the foundation's program, which is called Get on the Right Track, the funds will be dispersed to eight Community Health Centers in the state over the span of three years. The foundation also stated that it hoped the gift would increase access to dental care for children with no dental insurance, as well as educate parents about the benefits of a clean mouth.

Dr. Will Samson, a dentist from Bullhook Clinic in Havre, Montana, said in a press release that the money would "give us the ability to provide both education and treatment that will ultimately lead to healthier children."

While grants such as the one in Montana may help some families on a one-time basis, it isn't sufficient enough for children to maintain optimal dental health.
