Most parents are concerned with their children's oral health, but many may not know exactly what it takes to keep kids' teeth healthy.
In response to this, dentists from the American Dental Association (ADA) are going to tweet children's oral health tips during a live Twitter chat Tuesday, Feb. 28, from noon to 2 p.m. eastern standard time at hashtag CavityFightrs on Sharecare's new dedicated oral health Twitter handle @SCGetsMouthy.
"This Twitter chat is an opportunity for us to make a 'house call' so to speak," said Mary J. Hayes, D.D.S., who practices in Chicago and will be one of the dentists representing the ADA. "We want to clarify misconceptions and provide tips directly to parents and caregivers on how to keep children's teeth healthy for life."
The other dentist representing the ADA is Jonathan D. Shenkin, D.D.S. One tip that he said he plans to pass on is that an infant's teeth are valuable and need as much attention as adult teeth. Furthermore, parents should take their child to the dentist by their first birthday.
