A recent study conducted by Opinion Research Corporation International (ORCI) for the Academy of General Dentistry found that 63 percent of baby boomers were unaware that having oral health problems can lead to more serious concerns. In response to this, Andrew Kuznetsov, D.D.S., offered some encouragement to get this population to maintain proper oral care.
"Modern dental technology has come a long way since our childhood dental visits," said Kuznetsov. "We are able to treat and diagnose dental conditions while also identifying other health issues."
Kuznetsov added that thanks to the internet, arranging an appointment with the dentist is now easier than ever. Heart disease and diabetes are among two of the conditions that have been associated with poor oral health in baby boomers. Visiting the dentist regularly is the key to taking care of dental problems before they lead to more serious diseases.
For people who are having trouble affording a trip to their dental health professional, there are many dental plans that can help them get the care they need at a price they can handle.
