Resolving to exercise more in 2011? Watch out for dry mouth
Updated: 12/30/2010 1:00:04 PM
The new year is coming and that means many will be making their resolutions for 2011. And if past years are any indication, gyms may see an uptick in membership in January as more people strive to get in better shape.
However, those who plan on hitting the gym hard early next year may want to pay close attention to their dental health and be sure to stay hydrated while they life weights or hit the elliptical machine.
Dehydration can cause a condition known as dry mouth, which in turn could lead to bad breath. An easy way to combat this at the gym is to keep hydrated at all times with water. But when the neo-gym rats return home, it may be a good idea to administer good dental care to ensure the bad breath stays away.
Brushing twice daily, flossing and using mouth wash are all great ways to ensure one's breath remains fresh and free from intolerable smells.
Daily dental care is also a good way to maintain overall health, which may also tie into one's new year's resolution.
