For better or for worse, one company is attempting to get children to brush their teeth with a musical toothbrush.
Plackers, which makes a variety of dental care products, recently announced the Brush & Learn toothbrush that promises "original melodies and upbeat, catchy lyrics" that will "encourage healthy dental care habits."
Parents can apparently choose which songs their child hears that can range from tunes about the alphabet to farm animal sounds.
Tom Barman, director of marketing for Plackers, said in a statement that the musical toothbrush "will establish a foundation of healthy oral care habits that will last a lifetime."
While it remains to be seen if the toothbrush will be successful, the benefit of teaching children about good dental care early in their lives can last through adulthood, which can help them avoid developing conditions such as heart disease.
The American Dental Association says that children can avoid developing tooth decay by eating balanced meals, limiting snacks between meals and making sure they brush their teeth twice a day and to floss.
