The demand for dental care is increasing in some areas across the country and forcing community clinics to expand their facilities. The Post-Crescent reports that Tri-County Community Dental Clinic (TCCDC) and the Fox Cities Community Health Center's (FCCHC) dental clinic in Wisconsin will both adapt to serve the growing need of dental care among low-income children and adults.
According to the news source, demand for dental services at the FCCHC is so great that the clinic needs to move to a completely different and bigger facility. Meanwhile, the TCCDC will add two more services rooms to its eight.
Kristen Stacker, executive director at FCCHC, told the news provider that the center sees many patients "who don't know how to brush their teeth, and families where they all share one toothbrush." She added that the number of underprivileged people in the area has increased from 62,000 to 85,000 in the last two years.
Approximately 43.6 million people in the U.S. are considered to come from low-income, or poverty households.
Fortunately, there are affordable ways that individuals can find dental care coverage for themselves and their families.
