In some areas across the country, individuals are continuing to seek free treatment as they succumb to dental problems. For example, a recent event in Georgia serviced a record number of people who could not afford regular visits to the dentist.
The recent program in Georgia, hosted by Dentistry from the Heart, yielded a crowd of 167 people. Individuals were lined up beginning at 2 in the morning, although the event did not start until 5 hours later.
Rachel DeRing, marketing director for the event, said that the increased turnout comes as a result of the many people that are unemployed, and that even those who have jobs "sometimes don't have money to pay for dental insurance."
Dentists and their practices donated their time to treat underprivileged adults who were in serious pain due to their oral hygiene. Volunteers explained that this event was aimed toward these older individuals because their problems tend to be more severe.
Adults who suffer from pain due to their oral health could seek low-cost coverage in order to receive treatment. Discount dental plans provide affordable care for these individuals.
