Supporters recently took to Capitol Hill to acknowledge leaders, partnerships and polices that are working toward improving dental care among communities which are in need. Participants were also on hand to recognize the 10th anniversary of the Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health in America.
William Bailey, chief dental officer of the U.S. Public Health Service, said that this report "focused our attention on the burden that oral disease places on health and quality of life."
The event on Capitol Hill was created in part by Oral Health America (OHA) and the Dental Trade Alliance (DTA). Both organizations have also been collaborating on another campaign, which is called Fall for Smiles. The goal of this partnership is to urge families to seek the proper dental care for their children as they head back to school.
These events come after a recent survey conducted by OHA. In the study, approximately 65 percent of parents believed that schools should help in educating their children about the importance of oral health.
Parents who are seeking affordable care for themselves and their families may find that discount dental plans offers low-cost coverage for these individuals and their children.
