According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, periodontal, or gum, disease affects up to 12 percent of adults in the U.S. Dental practices are partnering to provide an increased number of individuals with services that can treat this problem.
Two dentists in San Francisco have combined their offices to form The Practice SF. The newly created practice specializes in periodontal healthcare as well as implant dentistry.
By working together, dentists hope to treat and rehabilitate patients who suffer from gum disease. Paola Guglielmoni, one of the dentists involved, said that their goal is to "make the public aware of the critical importance of proper oral hygiene and maintenance around their teeth."
The Practice SF will use dental implants in patients that have missing teeth which have happened as a result of the disease. The dentists will also provide therapy to individuals who may have damaging effects from this problem.
There are ways that individuals can find low-cost oral health care so that problems like periodontal disease can be treated. Discount dental plans provides affordable coverage for them and their families.
