The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that tooth decay affects more kids in the U.S. than any other disease. Now, there are more dental clinics that are opening and reducing the cost of their services to help low-income families receive the care they need for their children.
For example, the DailyBreeze.com reports that a new dental clinic in Lawndale, California is opening to help treat these individuals. The clinic was given $210,000 in donations so that it could provide four new dental operating rooms in which oral care will be provided.
The new facility will also implement a volunteer program in which dental students will administer the services, so that the demand for better oral health among children can be met.
Tina Harris, one of the individuals who helped open the facility, told the news source that "dental care is expensive and, for many families, it falls by the wayside."
Low-income families who are seeking to find their children proper dental care can find affordable plans through discount dental plans.
