Tooth decay has become one of the most common health complications found in children in the U.S.
In order to raise awareness of this growing dental health problem, Trident Gum and the Smiles Across America (SAA) program have launched a Denver-based campaign to increase access to free preventative dental treatments. This improved availability of services would benefit families with little or no dental insurance.
As part of raising funds to continue these programs, five cents will be donated to SAA for every pack of Trident gum purchased from September 13 to 19.
The campaign will help "raise public awareness about the importance of healthy mouths for healthy lives, and proactively provide education and services in schools to prevent tooth decay for uninsured and underserved children," stated Beth Truett, president and CEO of Oral Health America, an organization that also contributed to the campaign.
In addition to state and national efforts towards improving dental care, families with little or no dental insurance can benefit from signing up for a discount dental plan. An inexpensive oral health program allows pediatric patients to receive preventative services at affordable prices.
