In an effort to provide those with little or no dental insurance with access to regular services, the St. Gabriel Health Clinic has announced it has began constructing a dental care center. The new Louisiana-based facility will be federally funded, which mandates that the center must treat all patients whether or not they are able to pay for treatments, according to The Advocate.
In addition to the new dental care facility, clinic officials report that more efforts will be made to hire bilingual employees with a background in oral hygiene care. The building is expected to house all dental administration offices, the news source reports.
The need for the dental clinic arose when the number of people seeking treatments rose by an estimated 1,000 patients over the last two years.
The less people are able to access dental care, the more they will become susceptible to various health complications. For example, more than 8 percent of all adults in the U.S. aged 20 to 64 years have been diagnosed with gum disease, DentalGuideUSA.org reports.
The launching of similar new facilities may prove beneficial to those who are able to afford regular services. However, finding a dental discount plan can improve access to annual dental care services for families and individuals with little or no dental insurance.
