In an effort to introduce current dental professionals to the most up-to-date industry trends, the Institute of Oral Health will host the fifth annual Oral Health in Healthcare Reform at the end of October. The institution launched this event in an effort to gather the country's top dental care professionals and share the annual advancements made in the industry each year.
At the event, academic, private and public experts from across the country are invited to attend discussions highlighting child dental care, oral hygiene in seniors as well as the association between poor dental care and several diseases, such as gum disease and diabetes.
This year's presentations will also including information about the passing of the new national healthcare reform, which was approved in March. Professionals will emphasize how the new reform will affect reimbursement policies and insurance programs as well as the impact it may have on the delivery of dental care.
Some of this year's keynote speakers include Burton Edlestein, founder of the Children's Dental Health Project, and Shelly Gehshan, director of the Pew Children's Dental Campaign. Several professors and dental insurance representatives will also be making presentations during the two-day event.
