National dental foundation announces September awareness campaign

National dental foundation announces September awareness campaign Oral Health America (OHA), an nonprofit organization that raises awareness of dental care, has established its latest dental campaign called Fall for Smiles.

The event will begin in September, and will inform Chicago residents of the importance of at-home dental care routines, eating healthy, receiving regular dental treatments and avoiding the use of tobacco products. Throughout the campaign, results from consumer questionnaires conducted by OHA will be published, which surveyed more than 2,000 adults and children about their dental care regimens.

Dentists and other oral care specialists who participate in the event will provide patients with information booklets and oral health kits. Also, OHA will dedicate one week out of the month to raise awareness of tobacco use, which will emphasize the effects of tobacco on oral health care and how it increases the risk of developing certain diseases.

This new campaign is "intended to bring the oral health community together to promote common messaging about what Americans can do to keep their mouths healthy," said Beth Truett, president and CEO of Oral Health America.
