Groups work to teach public about dental health In an effort to educate the public about the importance of maintaining good dental health, community health organizations across the country are stepping up their efforts with events focused on helping people make choices that are better for their teeth.

One health organization in Illinois is currently holding a fair in which dentists will offer exams, provide referrals and offer information about dental hygiene.

Dr Stephen Liesen, one of the dentists attending the Illini Community Health Care Foundation's fair, told the Quincy Herald Whig, that dental health problems have become one of the most common in the area, and a fair that focuses on educating people about these issues could save people from problems down the road.

"I am especially pleased to see a new focus on oral health issues. Many people do not realize that oral health impacts overall health," he told the news source.

In addition to fairs like this, there are many low-cost dental insurance plans available that can make seeing a dentist more affordable for people.
