Behavioral and dental health center to receive federal funding for new facility
Updated: 3/10/2010 7:00:12 PM

Behavioral and dental health center to receive federal funding for new facility Late last week, Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center in Olympia Fields, Illinois, was awarded $6 million to build a new pediatric health center and community wellness facility for uninsured or underinsured children. The center, which is expected to open in the next two to three years, will provide dental health and behavioral health services to local youth in need of medical care.

Officials with Aunt Martha's have said that the new facility will be built on the campus of the Silver Cross Hospital, and is expected to be able to service as many as 12,000 kids in its first year of operation. It will be equipped with 21 medical exam rooms, nine dental rooms and five behavioral health rooms.

"Families across our area who are in need of health care now will have a place to go," said Democratic Representative Debbie Halvorson at a news conference announcing the decision.

Funding for the new facility will be provided by federal stimulus dollars that were recently allocated to the state of Illinois.

More than 26 full-time health-care jobs will be created by the project, according to WQAD.com
