ADA launches dental care podcast In an effort to perhaps spread the word about the benefits of good dental health to a more technology-savvy audience, the American Dental Association has launched a podcast dedicated to oral health information.

The podcast, titled Straight from the Mouth, is a video podcast that will feature dental topics including tooth whitening, overcoming dental anxiety, dental care for children and dental care when traveling to foreign countries.

Dr Ruchi Nijjar Sahota, a dentist from Freemont, California, and Dr Eric Grove, a recent graduate from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, host Straight from the Mouth.

The video podcast webisodes range in length from three to five minutes. The first one, which is free to download for the public, covered the issue of dental anxiety.

"Movies and TV shows make fun of dental anxiety," Grove said. "But people who suffer from it also can suffer the consequences of neglecting their teeth and gums, and that's no joke."

Grove added that he and Sahota "joke around a little" but also offer viewers dental health advice about overcoming their anxiety about the dentist's office.

The ADA, celebrating its 150th anniversary, has been known to try innovative ways to inform the general public about dental care.
