Sometimes the best way to reach a child is to appeal to their sense of wonder.
One museum located in Wilmington, North Carolina, is doing just that in an effort to teach more children about the benefits of daily dental care.
The ToothaSaurus pediatric dental exhibit at the city's Children's Museum allows kids of all ages to investigate all things pertaining to dental health, including an area that allows them to brush oversized teeth, Star News reports. The exhibit's grand opening occurred last week and reportedly attracted more than 200 visitors.
Leigh Muscle, the museum's director of development, told the news provider the idea stemmed from a similar exhibit last year called the teddy bear hospital.
"We realized how children enjoy learning about health," Muscle said. "The parents have found [the dental exhibit] as educational as the children have found it fun."
Adding a fun aspect to teaching about dental health may help children avoid developing childhood tooth decay, which the American Dental Association has called the single most common chronic childhood disease.
