Misha Barton, known for the television show The OC, revealed that the reason she was placed on psychiatric hold earlier this year was due to poor dental care.
While appearing on the daytime talkshow The View, Barton told the hosts that at the time of her breakdown, she experienced a "perfect storm" of troubles where "everything happened at once."
Barton added that it was the extraction of four wisdom teeth, which went badly, that led her to check herself in at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center psychiatric ward in July.
"I had been in the hospital," Barton said. "I had two surgeries on my wisdom teeth. I had four taken out and they had gotten it really badly wrong. They had to drill into my jaw and I was just in really excruciating pain."
Though teeth extraction can be painful, it can be helpful in maintaining one's dental health. While not everyone is required to have their back molars removed, it may be a good idea for a person to consult their dentist about their dental health.
