New ergonomic dental tool aids cleanings A dental instrument that is aimed at providing more comfort to dental hygienists when they are performing ultrasonic scalings has been introduced by DentaVations.

The UltraView uses indirect vision from a mouth mirror to permit hygienists to adopt a more natural pose than is possible with direct vision.

Meanwhile, the equipment also offers high-power suction that the firm claims is able to "virtually eliminate liquid spatter" by providing "outstanding control."

"The unique benefit of the UltraView product is that it gives hygienists the ability to use indirect vision without having to twist their backs and shoulders during ultrasonic scaling," commented Paula Wilson, president of DentaVations.

Other features touted by the company include the ability to keep teeth dry, as well as the option of using the tool as a tongue retractor.

Scaling is a common procedure that removes tartar and plaque from beneath the gumline, down to the bottom of each periodontal pocket.
