String-free flossing offers dental health alternative
Updated: 8/20/2008 12:00:55 PM

A new oral health product claims to make flossing easier for those who have braces on their teeth.

Instead of a string, the BrytonPick sports thin, flexible stainless-steel edges that fit in the gaps between teeth to help remove plaque.

Toothguard Dental Instruments, the company that makes the device, says it removes complications that people often encounter when trying to thread dental floss between the wires of their braces.

Tom Logar, president of Toothguard Dental Instruments, suggests users can improve their oral hygiene with the product's "hassle-free flossing and total portability."

"It can easily fit into the user's wallet to be used anywhere or anytime," he adds.

The firm claims that BrytonPick can be used for 30 days without needing to be replaced.

In addition to regular brushing and flossing, the American Dental Association states that for optimum dental health, those with braces may want to avoid certain sticky and chewy foods that may stick to orthodontics.
