Recently, an unemployed Illinois man named Wayne Sabaj found $150,000 in his backyard and turned it in to the police rather than keeping it for himself. According to the news source My Suburban Life, when reporters asked him what he would have done with the money if he had kept it, he said he would have gotten new teeth.
Now, Sabaj's wish has come true since a local dental office offered to fix his teeth for free.
"(The dentist) must be a nice guy to turn around and do (this) for me. I was just glad to hear it," Sabaj said, quoted by the news source. "My teeth are terrible. I have no front teeth. The rest are loose and they all hurt."
Sabaj received the dentures that he needed, which many Americans are struggling to afford these days. The website IDentalHub.com reports that high-quality dentures can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 dollars, which is a sum that many unemployed people do not have.
When people lose their jobs they often lose their insurance as well. That's why it's important in this economy to have affordable dental plans so uninsured people can still have access to quality care.
