Some women will go to extreme lengths in order to shed a few pounds, but a recent article published by Oregon-based KCBY-TV indicates that individuals who regularly brush their teeth may be successful in losing weight.
Nutritionist Deborah Enos told the news provider that she encourages her clients to scrub their teeth frequently because she believes that this helps to prevent overeating and excessive snacking.
The expert explained that the idea of inhibiting needless calorie consumption occurred to her one night when she chose not to eat popcorn while watching television before bed time. She said that she didn't want to brush her teeth again before going to sleep and was not tempted by the thought of a taste combination of peppermint and butter.
"Most of us are too lazy to want to brush our teeth again. So we brush them once afterward and that's pretty much it," Enos told the news organization.
Moreover, the American Dental Association notes that avoiding foods that can harm teeth, such as sugary candy and drinks, may also promote weight loss.
